The Beginning

| January 23, 2011

It’s been a journey. I started my masters at Ball State and, though the music program was great, I realized many of the philosophies there were not in line with my desires as a music educator.

You see, I prefer to take a progressive look at music and music education. I see music education as more than BCO (band, chorus, and orchestra), something that many traditional educators may disagree with. Don’t get me wrong, I love and appreciate traditional music education, but I want to find ways to incorporate non-classical music, technology, and other elements into my classroom. From the little I have seen and heard concerning the Music & Music Education program at TC I feel that many professors have the same view and I am excited to see what this new marriage will bring about.

I will be blogging as often as I can about things I discuss in class, my research, and just anything else that interests me as I travel this TC path.
